Nearly 100 years ago, commencing on January 17, 1920, the 18th Amendment to the Federal Constitution became law and prohibited all alcohol sales and consumption in the United States, minus a few strict exceptions. That act single-handedly ushered in the most significant gangster era in American history, purportedly surpassed only recently by today's House Democrats.
And so this is a friendly reminder to celebrate the New Year safely by designating a driver or taking an Uber or Cab or better still staying put at your New Year's Eve destination. A hangover is one problem; the cost of a DWI will make you wish Prohibition was still here...
