I was a frustrated, rushed home buyer. We had to find a house in 30 days to vacate a rental house, and the rental market in DFW in the summer of 2011 was much more challenging than it was about that time last year when we had moved in. After abandoning the rental market to look to purchase instead, we found a realtor through a referral. After searching MLS for a week, I was overwhelmed with the number of houses that I'd have to wade through and schedule showings for. When I asked that realtor about new homes, his response was, "I can help you with that, but I'm not familiar with any of the available communities or builders. You can just search for them online. Just remember to put my name on the paperwork when you go to the sales office" -- not exactly what I wanted to hear given my current level of frustration. About this time I had heard through a friend that his realtor offered him a 2.5% cash rebate after closing on his new house. After shaking away the disbelief, I searched online for realtors in the area that offered a cash rebate. Some of the hits I received looked questionable, and none of them looked anything as close to the professional polish that ARG's site contained. I was surprised to see that ARG's rebate was actually 3% in some cases, so naturally my first question for them when I called was, "Are you guys really legit?" After explaining things for me and answering all my questions, I had a 15 minute phone call with Mike. At the end of that phone call, he had not only told me about all of the new home communities in the area and neighborhood demographics, but even available houses that matched my criteria. This guy totally specializes in new homes. That night we visited the first house he recommended and signed papers that evening. I can't tell you how excited we were to be done with our house search, and then to end up with a new house with a 3% cash rebate! After a prayer, we hit the internet. What we got was a great website that was direct, to the point and came up on the right internet search words. And to my surprise, even at 8pm at night, Mike answered his phone. The call seemed like a long shot really but we thought we might have just found the solution we had been looking for. We didn't really need detailed realtor services - we were buying from a trusted builder - but we did very much needed help with our closing costs and ARG had the perfect answer for this need. If this weren't something too good to be true, it would provide a very critical piece to our home buying needs. Mike continued to do the right things. He was kind, courteous and sent us the paperwork in short order. The paperwork was clear and concise and up front with no hidden or hard to understand clauses. He provided our builder and lender with the needed documentation regarding the closing funds his program rebates. There wasn't a lot of communication needed after that. At closing everything went smoothly. Lastly, the remaining funds – which our family really needed immediately after closing were rebated to us right away. ARG is perhaps the only "too good to be true" offering that wasn't too good to be true, but exactly as advertised. I recommend ARG and Mike Askins to everyone that I know.
